In memoriam of David Harold Anderson
David Harold Anderson
December 28, 1945 - May 2, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Anderson. Predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Rebecca, his parents and his brother Brian and survived by his children Wendy and William.
Dave was the first of four boys to Harold Mason Anderson and Beryl Enid Ivey (Burrows) Anderson. To the joy of both mother and son, they shared a birthday near Christmas. Dave and his three brothers: Rob, Brian and John grew up in a home filled with love. Dave’s belief in family was built from memories of his working parents making time to bake bread, pies, and cookies every Saturday for growing boys.
Dave married the love of his life, Rebecca May James, in 1967 and had two children, Wendy and Will. Dave and his young family moved frequently, living in Sault Ste. Marie, Winnipeg, Dryden, Saskatoon, and other cities, as Dave worked his way up through retail management. They settled in Thunder Bay in the mid 1970s. With the children out of the house, in 1988 Rebecca convinced Dave to move to beautiful British Columbia in 1988 where they opened their own store, Elco Stores in Maple Ridge. First opening a small shop selling tapes, CDs, stereos and sound systems and later expanding to a larger location.
Dave’s favourite times were spent with family; going to dinner, theatre plays, watching baseball games and taking road trips, camping along the way. A lifelong fan of the Blue Jays, Dave relished his trips to spring training in Dunedin, Florida.
Dave was the proud grandfather to Heather, Jonathan, Mason and Isaac. We will miss you Dad, grandpa, brother, uncle - you taught us to plan for our goals, to keep driving forward and the importance of family.
Thank you to everyone at Broadway Lodge for your caring, commitment and compassion while Dave enjoyed his final years in supportive care.
